Charging
Visits to
museums and places of interest are a vital part of the children's
education. Although these trips are usually subsidised it will be
necessary to ask parents for a contribution.
The Governing
Body of Beaver Road hereby set out the particulars of its charging
policy in accordance with Section 110 of the Education Reform Act
1988.
The purpose of
this statement on charging for school activities are to:
-
maintain the
right to free school education;
-
establish
that activities offered wholly or mainly during normal teaching
time should be available to all pupils regardless of their
parents' ability or willingness to help meet the cost;
-
emphasise
that there is no statutory requirement to change for any form of
education or related activity but to give LEAs and schools the
discretion to charge for optional activities provided wholly or
mainly out of school hours;
-
confirm the
right of LEAs and schools to invite voluntary contribution for
the benefit of the school, or in support of any activity
organised by the school whether taking place during or outside
school hours;
-
emphasise
that many worthwhile educational visits only take place if
parents are prepared to make contributions to the cost of
visits.
Please note that
no child would be prevented from taking part in a visit by inability
to pay a contribution. In cases of hardship the school is
sympathetic to individual needs and is keen that all children should
benefit from educational visits.
No charge is
made for everyday school equipment and books.
