The school has made very good progress overall in all areas of the Foundation Stage Profile (FSP) when comparing the percentage achievements with the Local Authority (LA) and National averages (NA). This is illustrated in the above table.

The trend for pupils scoring 6+ points shows overall improvement on last year. In particular the scores in reading and writing which were significantly improved.

  • APS at the school has been consistently above the NA over the last 3 years.

  • Ethnic groups all achieved well above the NA for their group with the exception of Black Africans who had an APS of 9.3 compared to the NA of 14.4.It should be noted that there were only 2 pupils in this group.

  • SEN pupils did better than the NA for this group with an APS of 13.8 compared to 12.6.

  • The overall picture of progress this year at KS1 is very pleasing. The Raise online (unvalidated) confirms that the school is achieving significantly above the LA and NA averages for KS1 in reading, writing and maths

ANALYSIS AND EVALUATION OF PERFORMANCE IN KEY STAGE 2 IN 2008

This was a large cohort 84 pupils, 42 girls and 42 boys.

  • Compared with national results, results in 2008 in KS2 for the percentage of pupils achieving L4+ are above both the NA and LA.  In maths the results were L4+ (89%) and L5+ (56%) This was above both LA and NA.  In English the results were L4+ (88%) and L5+ (63%) This was above the LA and NA. These results are all well above the floor targets of L4+ 65% in English and L4+ 65% in maths and L4+ 55% in English and maths combined.

  • In maths L4, girls (90%) outperformed boys (88%) and girls (57%) outperformed boys (55%) at L5.

  • In science the results were L4 boys (90%) girls (95%). Girls (71%) outperformed boys (69%) at L5. The school is still striving to make improvement in science a target.

  • APS for non-FSM pupils was 30 and for FSM pupils it was 26. This is a significant difference The chart below reveals the picture behind these figures.
