International Links We believe it very important for our children to develop a proactive world consciousness so that events stemming from natural disasters, climate and environmental change, peace and war, cultural diversity, religion and so on, can be placed within a context of greater understanding. In 2004 and 2005 the Department for Education and Science published Putting the World in World-Class Education and Developing the Global Dimension in the School Curriculum – national frameworks within which schools could develop their global curriculum. At Beaver Road there are many opportunities for children to engage in global learning – in history, geography and religious education for instance. From Year 3 every child learns Spanish as an additional language. The School has through the British Council Connecting Classrooms project, linked up with schools in the Punjab province of Pakistan (they were visitors here in June).
We are the Coordinating School for a
British Council funded 2 year school partnership project 'All About me,
All About You, All About Us' We have been successfully assessed by the British Council to apply for the International School Award (ISA) in July 2009. We regularly host students from the University of Granada in Spain who spend time working in our classrooms when they are in England on exchange visits.
