Learning Day-by-Day

A miscellany of news and children's work...

Talk for Write

Here are two video examples of the Talk for Write literacy work that is taking place in Year 6. These show the theory of the 3 'eyes' of the Talk For Write scheme. The first video shows an 'Imitation' of a traditional tale (retold using a storymap).
The second video shows the 'Innovation' of the story, making appropriate changes to the original for a target audience (Usually done in Kagan groups).
The final stage, 'Invention', is carried out during their Big Write work. Where from the structure of the original tale, the group innovation work and the children's own storymaps - they individually produce their own take on the story.
