Parent Teacher Association
Beaver Road is key to the success and sustainability of Didsbury and the surrounding areas. Somewhere in the region of 5000 people have a link to the School through family connections. Beaver Road is a multicultural school and the only non-faith school in Didsbury itself. Thereby it is fully representative of the diverse community it serves.
Pupils at Beaver Road speak 25 different languages and have family links to more than 35 countries around the world. Beaver Road families follow many different faiths including Christian, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Jainism and Buddhism. There are humanists, atheists, agnostics and followers of no faith. Together they work hard and successfully to build and sustain a vibrant, respectful community.
Through the curriculum the School actively promotes knowledge and understanding of the local community and environment, its history, geography and culture. Pupils from the School are regular visitors to Didsbury and Manchester – its parks, shops, the library and places of worship, art galleries, museums and places of interest.
Pupils at the school regularly organise events and fundraising to raise awareness and money for both local and national charities and good causes.
The School is well supported by local businesses (a significant number of which have family connections to the School), who contribute generously to Parent Teacher Association events. The PTA organises community events and fundraising throughout the year.
The School participates every year in the Didsbury Carnival and its Choir performs at local residential homes and concerts in aid of charities, particularly at Christmas.
Children who are pupils at the school contribute in large numbers to local sports teams including football, cricket, rugby and athletics. Many children who also attend Beaver Road are active members of uniformed organisations such as the Scouts and Guides.
