Year 4 is within the lower Key Stage 2 phase of Beaver Road. In Year 4 the children continue their exciting learning journey where collaborative discovery is at the heart of our day to day activities and all children are encouraged to take appropriate risks.
Learning is based around a thematic curriculum where personalised child-led activities are central to our vision. Children are encouraged and supported to develop their own questions and enquiries as well as finding the answers to these through collaborative learning challenges across the curriculum. Each day all children are given the opportunity to Review & Reflect’ on their learning journey, utilising what they have learnt in different contexts – in order to gain a deeper understanding and a real purpose for learning. .
Every classroom is stimulating, encouraging and vibrant; from interactive displays to working walls, all classrooms are organised so that children can learn in a variety of ways and celebrate success. There are relevant areas of provision and resources that support and develop the childrens skills and knowledge across the curriculum. Through Kagan structures and flexible timetables there is a balance between supported group work, collaborative learning and independent discovery time.
By the end of Year 4 we envisage the children to be resilient, resourceful learners who welcome challenges and regularly reflect on achievements and discoveries they have made. Happy, inquisitive learners, who question, challenge and seek out new knowledge at every available opportunity is our desired outcome.
