Year 5 provides your child with an exciting, challenging and stimulating start to Upper Key Stage Two. Here in Year 5 at Beaver Road Primary School, our focus is on creating high aspirations for all children across a broad and balanced curriculum, so that they are ready for their final year at Primary School. We provide an exciting, challenging curriculum in which all children are motivated to do and be their best.
Lessons are carefully planned and sequenced through our ‘Teaching Backwards’ approach, whereby children are encouraged to ask questions and become investigators in their own learning journey. Children are provided with the knowledge and skills to deepen their understanding and embed their learning. We encourage all children to work collaboratively through our Kagan Structures, team investigations and talk. Children are taught to embrace their ‘Marvellous Mistakes’ and see them as an integral part of learning. Growth Mindset is therefore an essential part of our Year 5 classrooms and learning environments.
Children in Year 5 will be welcomed into a creative, stimulating and exciting learning environment whereby their love of learning can continue to grow. As well as this, throughout the year, the children will access a range of learning experiences to bring their topics to life such as workshops, school trips and productions.
