Year 6 is the incredible celebration of the end of your child’s learning journey in Primary School and is therefore hugely important, both academically and emotionally. Here in Year 6 at Beaver Road Primary School, our focus is on the aspirations that we have for our learners across a broad and balanced range of subjects. In a challenging year, which paves the pathway to an exciting transition to Secondary School, we promote high and equal expectations, providing an ambitious curriculum which is studied by all.

Through our creative curriculum, we aim to plan careful sequencing of learning steps in order to develop knowledge and an inclusion of skills teaching, particularly regarding preparation for both future learning and employment.  We encourage learning based on enquiry and cooperation, investigation and talk and it is important that our children recognise and embrace mistakes, aim high and believe in their abilities. Learning questions thread through the school’s core values of treating each other with respect and sharing feedback in a kind, helpful and specific way.

Our fantastic Year 6 team promote an ethos of focus and effort in order that children can maximise their learning experiences. Commitment, energy and curiosity are some of a few qualities which are nurtured in Year 6 and our wealth of learning experiences, ranging from live theatre, historical role play to political debate and real life business skills engage the children in the most memorable experiences during their final year of Junior School.
