Attendance Matters:
Your attendance today shapes your success tomorrow. Make it count!
Beaver Road Primary School is a gold rights respecting school. We believe that the highest levels of attendance enable children to achieve and excel. Every child has a right to education and become the best that they can be. Excellent attendance is fundamental to this right being upheld. For a child to reach their full educational potential, a high level of school attendance and punctuality is essential.

From the 19th of August 2024, a new National Framework for Penalty Notices for school absence has been introduced.
The National Framework aims to:
• Make penalty notices more effective by ensuring they are only used in cases where they are the most appropriate tool to change parental behaviour and improve attendance.
• Prioritise the support first approach by expecting support to be used in cases where it is appropriate and using penalty notices in cases where support is not appropriate (e.g. a term time holiday) has not worked or has not been engaged with.
• Improve consistency in the use of penalty notices across England by introducing a new national threshold at which they are considered.
• Improve the deterrent effect of a penalty notice by increasing the amount and introducing a new national limit of 2 penalty notices within a 3-year period to break cycles of repeat offending.

Global Policing - Attendance Support
To strengthen our attendance processes, we are pleased to announce a partnership with Global Policing, a team of former professionals who bring a wealth of experience in supporting young people, families, and schools. They will be supporting families: if a child’s attendance falls below our expected attendance levels, if a child is persistently late or does not turn up to school without any notification. Their aim, in line with our own, is to ensure that all children have their right to education met.
Global Policing use their skills and expertise to positively and supportively address attendance challenges. It is important to note that they are not an enforcement agency, but a resource for families who may need extra assistance in ensuring children attend school regularly and on time.
How Global Policing Will Support Families:
They may contact families if a child’s attendance falls below the expected level, if a child is persistently late, or if a child is absent without prior notification.
Their approach will always be positive and supportive, without judgment, and they aim to work collaboratively to find practical solutions.
Being independent from the school, they may be able to offer advice and guidance that complements what the school provides.
